Brand Ambassador at
Illinois Leadership center

Working for the ILC has been an incredible experience that has given me the opportunity to develop my leadership skills in a variety of ways.  

I support campus-wide leadership development initiatives by promoting workshops, programs, and resources to diverse student audiences. This role centered on connecting students to high-impact leadership opportunities, strengthening the ILC’s visibility, and representing the center’s mission to cultivate effective, community-minded leaders.

Skills Learned:

  • Communication & Public Speaking: Delivered presentations, facilitated conversations with students, and clearly articulated program offerings.

  • Marketing & Outreach: Promoted ILC programs through tabling, targeted campaigns, and personalized engagement strategies.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Worked closely with staff and other ambassadors to coordinate outreach goals and support program execution.

  • Event Support & Customer Experience: assisted with workshop check-in, participant guidance, and smooth program operations.

Senior Resident Advisor

Working as a Senior Resident Advisor has its ups and downs but I wouldn't change it! I work to maintain university housing standards and be involved in the housing community. A list of my specific responsibilities is below!

As a Senior Resident Advisor in UIUC University Housing, I provided leadership, mentorship, and community development support within a residential hall serving a diverse student population. This role combined crisis response, team leadership, program facilitation, and administrative management to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and growth-oriented living environment. In addition to supporting residents, I also played a key role in guiding a team of Resident Advisors, helping them navigate policies, build confidence, and deliver high-quality residential programming.

Skills learned: 

  • Crisis Management & Conflict Resolution: Managed on-call situations, mediated resident conflicts, and supported students through sensitive issues.
     

  • Community Building & Programming: Designed and delivered inclusive, engaging activities and initiatives that strengthened hall community.
     

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Maintained strong relationships with residents, RAs, and professional staff through clear, compassionate communication.
     

  • Administrative & Policy Management: Completed duty logs, incident reports, and policy enforcement with accuracy and professionalism.
     

Summer Intensive Camp

I coordinated check-in and onboarding for over 200 campers across multiple summers, ensuring smooth arrivals and a welcoming experience. I helped develop and lead educational programming within the graphic design track, supporting students as they completed hands-on creative projects and learned new artistic techniques.

I've done this every summer and love getting to interact with kids to introduce them to UIUC and the arts! A list of my specific responsibilities is below!

Skills Learned:

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Supervised 15 counselors, provided guidance, and modeled strong leadership behavior.

  • Large-Scale Event Coordination: Managed check-in, onboarding, and daily logistics for 200+ participants.

  • Program Facilitation: Developed and led educational activities within the graphic design track to increase creativity and engagement.

  • Communication & Team Collaboration: Worked collaboratively with program staff, counselors, and instructors to maintain smooth program operations.

  • Conflict Resolution & Safety Management: Ensured a safe and supportive environment by addressing concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Organizational & Administrative Skills: Tracked performance, maintained attendance, and contributed to program documentation.

KWS Breeding Wheat Intern

As a Wheat Breeding Intern with KWS Cereals in Champaign, Illinois, I supported the development of improved wheat varieties through hands-on field research and data collection. My work contributed to large-scale breeding trials across Illinois and Kentucky, where I assisted with planting preparation, plot maintenance, harvesting, and trait evaluation. This role gave me direct experience with the scientific, technical, and operational processes that drive commercial crop improvement.

Skills Learned: 

  • Agricultural Technology Operation: Ran specialized harvest and data-collection machinery with accuracy and safety.

  • Field Research Execution: Conducted plot harvesting, seed handling, moisture testing, and protocol-based sampling.

  • Data Accuracy & Documentation: Ensured clean datasets through careful labeling, verification, and digital record management.

  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Responded to machine issues, weather challenges, and fast-paced field conditions during peak season.

  • Team Collaboration: Communicated effectively with breeders, technicians, and interns to maintain workflow across multiple sites.
